Ferrari had been in the supercar industry for quite some time now. We had seen it develop new and better supercars both for the tracks and the road. We had seen many models come and go each year. Technology is being advanced every year producing a better car, producing more choices to consider. Top speeds and maximum power outputs are increasing each year. High speeds are reached at lesser time. Shiftings become more seamless. Downforces are enhanced. Drag is reduced. Designs are more sleek and luxurious.

Yet, amidst these advancements, there are cars which cannot be defaced on the people’s favorites. They may have been outdated by these newer and better cars but then these cars are just perfect for so many people that they don’t mind it being passé.

parading Ferrari's '80s icon, a novelty

One of Ferrari’s old-fashioned supercars but still considered great and even legendary is the Ferrari F40. F40 was introduced at Ferrari’s 40th year in business and was named after it to commemorate 40 years of success.

This very light – 1100 kg dry weight – two seater berlinetta is created mainly of composites. In its time, it was the road car designed very close to that of a racing car. This is not just of the exterior design but also of what it is built of.

The F40 was transcribed from the Evoluzione prototype. A total of 5 Evoluziones, of which 4 were sold and the last one retained by the company, were created before the F40 was finally set to the public’s eyes as the production car that came out of the Evoluzione.

Just one look at the Pininfarina designed body; you’d think that this was designed to be a racing car. But no, this is a hundred percent street legal car.

With the engine, it is equipped with a rear wheel drive mid mounted 2.9 L 90° V8 engine having four valves per cylinder, a twin overhead camshafts per bank with each bank supplied with its own toothed drive belt, a dry sump lubrication, twin IHI water cooled turbochargers sustaining air through a pair of Behr intercoolers at 1.1 bar allied to a Weber-Marelli IAW jointed ignition/fuel injection system. Maximum power of 351.5 kW at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 577 Nm at 4000 rpm is delivered of its powerful engine.

It has an independent front and rear suspensions with unequal length wishbones and coil springs over telescopic shock absorbers and anti-roll bar. It has a rack and pinion steering and he differential assembly was installed on the back of the engine. F40 is further equipped with a 5-speed plus reverse transmissions but a non synchromesh “sports” gearbox is offered to those would want to have a more extreme driving experience.

F40 as fitted out with cutting-edge high performance and the finest chassis, this car can allow you to reach a hundred km/h speed from zero in just 4.1 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 324 km/h.

Being a ‘80s icon, it has a high mounted integral full width wing. Everyone seemed to love the F40 that even some had bought it as high as a million pounds and production continued through to 1992 and had produced a number almost five times as the GTO and is of course beyond Ferrari’s wildest dreams making it Ferrari’s most wanted sportscar.

Ferrri F40 today can be seen for sale and we suggest you go and buy this ‘80s novelty.  Ferrari F40 for sale is a one of a kind opportunity you ought to grab while it is still there. It would be best for that one more slot on your car collection!
